When I began planning my wedding, I knew one thing for certain: I didn’t want a traditional white gown. I’ve always been drawn to Victorian fashion, romantic gothic details, and the rich colors found in old storybooks. I dreamed of a dramatic black wedding dress that felt elegant, mysterious, and timeless. At the same time, I wanted to incorporate deep ruby red tones to complement my hair and add a touch of passion and romance to the design.
After searching for months, I decided to work with a talented dressmaker I discovered on Etsy. Together, we brought my vision to life. The foundation of the gown was created using luxurious deep red silk taffeta and ruby satin, layered beneath swaths of vintage black floral lace. The combination created beautiful depth and movement, allowing flashes of crimson to peek through the intricate lace with every step.
My favorite feature of the gown is undoubtedly the corset-style bodice. The sleek boning creates a flattering Victorian silhouette while providing structure and elegance.
